Waheeda Rehman turns red as she talks about her fondness for late Dev Anand – Times of India

In a recent interaction with Twinkle Khanna, Waheeda Rehman reminisced her time with late Bollywood legend, Dev Anand.

Twinkle quizzed the veteran star about her early days in the Hindi film industry and how Dev Anand developed a fondness for her and even stood up to director Raj Khosla to support her.

The actress replied that she was a huge Dev Anand fan and her first movie was with him. Rehman mimicked the legend and said that when they met for the first time, he had asked her, “Waheeda, kaisi ho? Come on, let’s do this. Come on, come on.”

She further added that he had instructed her to address him just as Dev.

She also reacted to her ‘decent flirt’ comment and blushed brightly as she explained that for the movie ‘Guide‘, Chetan Anand, the Hindi director, and Tad Danielewski, the English director, rejected her as the leading lady. They had said that her English was ‘not so good’. But, Dev as insisted that his ‘Rosie is only Waheeda’, she was cast in the role.

Speaking about ‘Guide’, it was released in 1965. The film also had an American version. It was also picked as India’s official entry at the Oscars. The film was a big success at the box office and later achieved a cult following. Even today, it is considered as one of the best Bollywood films of all time.
