Ayushmann, Vaani-starrer ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ mints Rs 3.75 cr on Day 1 – Times of India


Actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor‘s latest release ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui‘ has raked in Rs 3.75 crore on the first day of its release.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the figures on Twitter. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ is a romantic drama, where Ayushmann plays a bodybuilder and Vaani essays the role of a zumba teacher.

The story of the film revolves around Ayushmaan’s character Manvinder Munjal ‘Manu’, a body builder from Chandigarh, who falls in love with a zumba teacher named Maanvi. Things take a turn when he finds out that Maanvi is a transgender woman.

The film has been entirely shot in Chandigarh. Talking about it, Ayushmann recalled his old memories and told BT previously, “You know it’s quite tough to date in Chandigarh. If a cop sees a couple, dating, then they catches hold of you. It has happened with me too. In fact, when I was shooting a dating scene for the film that time too a cop came for questioning. Which is why I feel Chandigarh ke aashiq alag hote hai as they know how to tackle this situation.”

To this, filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor added, “I am a Punjabi and I have made films in Gujarat, Kashmir and Mumbai. Mere andar ka Punjabi wanted to do a film that’s set in Punjab and has the local flavours. I am happy that I got to make this film. And by the way the title of the film was suggested by Ayushmann, which I thought was very apt.”
