‘83’ box office collection day 6: Ranveer Singh starrer drops further, collects a total of Rs 63 crore – Times of India


Ranveer Singh starrer ‘83’ collection continued with its downward trend on Wednesday. The film’s business has been hit because of theatres shutting down in Delhi. The film recorded a fall of 5 per cent in collection as it raked in Rs 5.50 crore nett on Wednesday.

However in the metro cities and mass centres, the film managed to rake in steady business. With ‘Jersey’ getting out of the way and the upcoming holiday weekend, the collection of this sports drama is expected to be decent. According to boxofficeindia.com, ‘83’ stands at a total of Rs 63.21 crore. The present trend hints that the first week collections of ‘83’ will be around Rs 68-69 crore nett, which is a low figure considering the Christmas holiday week.

Directed by Kabir Khan, ‘83’ narrates the story of the India cricket team’s iconic win during the world cup in 1983. Speaking about the film, Kabir Khan had exclusively told ETimes, “You know, 83 is a big responsibility for me. I knew if I don’t recreate this correctly, the country will not forgive me. Ditto for Ranveer: If he won’t portray Kapil correctly, the audience will not forgive him. And as you see from the trailer, he has done it brilliantly. He worked very hard.”Deepika Padukone, who is co-producing the movie, plays the role of Ranveer’s onscreen wife in this entertainer. ‘83’ also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Adinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa and R Badree in pivotal roles.
