At a time when producers have been opting to postpone the release of their films, owing to the Covid-19 scare, the three December releases are enjoying their time at the ticket window. According to the latest reports on boxofficeindia.com, the three films saw a good jump in collections over New Year’s day.
’83 and ‘Spider-Man’ are looking at a 70% jump and are expected to collect around Rs 7 crore and Rs 5 crore nett respectively. Meanwhile, ‘Pushpa’ (Hindi) has seen a similar jump in collections coming in from multiplexes and single screens. While the collections may be less than the Ranveer starrer, it is expected to be around the Rs 5.50 crore nett range. ‘Pushpa’ (Hindi) remains to be the best performing film of 2021.
’83 was off to a slow start at the ticket window. The film earned an estimated Rs 68.21 crore by the end of Week 1. It began its second week at the box offfice with a collection of Rs 4.25 crore.
‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, on the other hand, is on its way to the Rs 200 crore mark. the film wrapped up another successful week at the box office with a total collection of Rs 190 crore nett.
With films like Shahid Kapoor‘s ‘Jersey‘ and SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ postponing their releases, these films now have one more undisputed week at the box office. Considering the rising Covid cases across the country and the tightening of civil restrictions, the makers of Ram Charan and Jr NTR-starrer ‘RRR’ were the latest to take a call to postpone the release date of their film.
They tweeted, “Keeping the best interests of all the involved parties in mind, we are forced to postpone our film. Our sincere thanks to all the fans and audience for their unconditional love.”
The creative shared by the production company read, “In spite of our relentless efforts, some situations are beyond our control. As many Indian states are closing theatres, we are left with no choice but to ask you to hold on to your excitement. We promised to bring back The Glory of Indian Cinema, and at the right time, WE WILL.”
