KPAC Lalitha’s final rites to be held at ‘Orma’, Wadakkancherry with full state honours – Times of India


With the demise of the legendary actress KPAC Lalitha, the Malayalam film industry has indeed lost a gem. The veteran actress passed away on Tuesday, February 22. She was 74. The funeral of the actress will be held today at 5 pm in Wadakkancherry with full state honours.

The funeral will take place at her residence in Wadakancherry named ‘Orma’. For the public to pay tribute, the mortal remains of the actor were kept at Layam Koothambalam in Thrippunithura from 8 am to 11.30 am. Following this, the body will be taken to Thrissur and will be kept at Sangeetha Nataka Akademi from 2 pm.

During her last days, KPAC Lalitha was staying with her son Sidharth Bharathan at his house in Thrippunithura. Married to the renowned Malayalam film director late Bharathan, the actress KPAC Lalitha is survived by her son and daughter Sreekutty Bharathan.


Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan paid tributes for the actress along with the other M-Town celebrities such as Mohanlal, Mammootty, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas, and Navya Nair.

KPAC Lalitha began her acting career as a theatre artist with ‘Kerala People’s Arts Club’ (KPAC), a theatre collective in Kerala. Spanning over five decades, KPAC Lalitha has performed memorable roles in over 500 films. She was also the chairperson of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi.
