Valimai box office: Ajith’s film gets an excellent opening, earns 76 crore in India – Times of India


Ajith’s ‘Valimai’ has been released in theatres on February 24 and the film is helmed by H Vinoth. Produced by Boney Kapoor, the music for the movie is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the background score was composed by Ghibran.

The movie also stars Huma Qureshi and Kartikeya Gummakonda. ‘Valimai’ is a long-awaited movie. It was first planned to release for Pongal but was delayed due to pandemic restrictions. Now, with it finally being screened in theatres, ‘Valimai’ has started to show record collections on the first day of its release.

The movie was reportedly screened in over 650 theatres in Tamil Nadu in multiple screens and multiple show timings. According to media reports, the movie saw a pre-release business in theatres of about Rs. 64.50 crore in Tamil Nadu and an overall of Rs 76 crore in India and 20 crores from the rest of the world.

With the COVID restrictions out of place, the theatres having 100% occupancy – has really helped the movie to be a success on its first day of its release. We will know if the movie is a blockbuster hit only after the first weekend from the release date.

As of 8 pm on February 24, reportedly the theatres in Tamil Nadu had an average of 94% occupancy throughout the day. After the release of the movie, it is touted that ‘Valimai’ will get a box office collection of about Rs 36 crores on its first day of release just from Tamil Nadu.
