During their Celebrity Football Cup 2022 in Dubai, Abhishek said that Ranbir had to follow a special tradition in his first football match against Emirates United. Jr Bachchan, who is the captain of the team, told Bollywood Hungama, “It’s a special match for all of us because it’s Ranbir’s first match after becoming spoken for. And we have certain traditions in our team for newlyweds which we will be fulfilled today.”
Ranbir explained the tradition and said, “Basically they are going to put me in front of the goal, and I am going to kick lots of balls at them.”
Ranbir wed long-time girlfriend Alia Bhatt in an intimate ceremony last month. The couple got hitched in their plush Bandra home in the presence of their families and a few close friends.
During the interaction, Abhishek, who celebrated his 15th wedding anniversary with Aishwarya Rai last month, was asked to share some words of advice for his newly married teammate. “He doesn’t need it. He decided to get married, she decided to marry him because they are in love with each other and that’s the only thing that matters. They respect each other, and that’s it,” Bachchan replied.
Ranbir will share screen space with Bachchan’s father Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming Ayan Mukerji directorial ‘Brahmastra’. The film that is slated for its release in September, will also see Alia in a lead role and Mouni Roy joining the supporting cast.
