Eternals Trailer: Marvel fans have the best reactions to Chloe Zhao’s ‘visual masterpiece’ – Times of India

The new trailer of Oscar-winning director, Chloe Zhao‘s much-anticipated Marvel superhero movie ‘Eternals’ dropped online Thursday afternoon. The detailed clip gives us more than just glimpses of all the action set to unfold on the big screen, come November 5.

Starring a diverse cast of Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Lia McHugh as Sprite and Barry Keoghan as Druig, the movie is about the group of immortal beings (Eternals) who have been living on earth for the past 7,000 years, shaping society as we know it.

Created by cosmic beings called Celestials, the film will chronicle the journey of the Eternals who were sent to Earth to safeguard it from humanity’s greatest threat – the Deviants.

The trailer, which gives us a look at the visual spectacle set to unfold this winter, also explains the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ that lead to a new “emergence”, referring to the Deviants.

The trailer also explains why the super race of immortal beings did not interfere in the events of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ or through the course of human history. “We were instructed not to interfere in any human conflicts unless Deviants were involved,” Gemma’s Sersi explains to Dane Whitman, played by Kit Harington.

Unlike the first teaser, this one has plenty of action, romance, over the top visuals and humour to go with it. That said, fans were also left pretty impressed with the nearly 3-minute clip, with some going on to dub it as the ‘best Marvel movie yet.’

“#Eternals looks stunning! Cloe Zhao has made a masterpiece with this movie,” a Twitter user commented.

Another added, “THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO BE INSANE!”

Sharing some impressive visuals from the film, another said, “#Eternals is beautiful, breathtaking and amazingly shot.”

Zhao, who recently won an Oscar for best director for her film ‘Nomadland’, has penned the film’s screenplay with Patrick Burleigh Ryan Firpo and Matthew K Firpo.

‘Eternals’ is Marvel’s third film of Phase 4 ready to roll out in cinemas. While Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Black Widow’ opened to record-breaking box office numbers, ‘Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings‘ is up for its release this September.

‘Eternals’ will arrive in theatres in November and will leave it to ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ to round off 2021.
