When contacted, Ramesh’s son Ajinkya confirmed the sad news that his father passed away around 8.30 pm. “Papa had heart complications and had also undergone a bypass surgery,” he said.
Added Ajinkya, “We rushed him today to the hospital but he had a massive cardiac arrest. The last rites will be performed tomorrow.”
Deo is survived by his wife and noted actress Seema Deo and two sons – Ajinkya Deo and Abhinay Deo. Abhinay has directed notable Hindi films like ‘Delhi Belly’ and ‘Blackmail’. On the other hand, Ajinkya is a well-known actor in Hindi and Marathi cinema.
Ramesh Ji made his Hindi film debut with Rajshri Productions’ 1962 film ‘Aarti’. In recent times, he was seen in films like ‘Jolly LLB’ and ‘Ghayal Once Again’. Ramesh Ji has also contributed immensely in Marathi cinema and theatre both. Many believe that his breakthrough role in Marathi cinema was in 1956’s ‘Andhala Magto Ek Dola’. And when it comes to Hindi movies, who can forget Dr Prakash Kulkarni of ‘Anand’?
