Here’s how Bappi Lahiri reacted to Bipasha Basu’s wish to ‘rob him of’ his gold jewellery – Times of India

Veteran singer Bappi Lahiri passed away on Tuesday night in Mumbai after battling obstructive sleep apnea. He was 69 and breathed his last at Mumbai’s CritiCare Hospital. Bappi da, who was known for his superhit songs, was also popular for his gold jewellery. Back in 2007, he reacted to Bipasha Basu’s joke that she wanted to steal his jewellery.

In an interview with Bombay Times, Bipasha had called him an ‘amazing person’. She had said, “And every time I see him, I want to rob him of his jewellery. He wears such lovely gold jewellery; it’s full of these little Gods, and that’s something I absolutely love.”

Reacting to the same, Bappi Lahiri, in an interview in 2007, had said that he would love to give her his gold. He had replied, “She is very sweet. Woh aise maange, main de dunga. Chori karna nahi padega, le lo.” He had also praised her and said that he like her. “I like her, she is very good-looking and Bong,” he had shared.

Earlier today, Bappi Lahiri’s family released an official statement and said that the funeral will take place on Thursday. The statement read, “It’s a deeply sad moment for us. Our beloved Bappi Da has left for heavenly abode last midnight. The cremation will take on arrival of Bappa From LA tomorrow mid morning ,We are seeking love and blessings for his soul. We will keep you updated.”
