Satish Kaushik: I am a workaholic and my hunger to do good work is still alive -Exclusive! – Times of India

Satish Kaushik recently celebrated his 66th birthday and he’s spent almost four decades in the film industry, but his career is still rolling ahead at full steam. Kaushik has made an impact with OTT shows like Bloody Brothers and Guilty Minds of late. And the interesting part is, his characters of Handa (Bloody Brothers) and Bhalla (Guilty Minds) have been unlike anything he’s done before.

Relishing these new opportunities, Kaushik says, “I am enjoying this new phase of my career. I am busier than ever before and the best part of working in the OTT space is that I get to work with you new storytellers, filmmakers and actors. In Bloody Brothers I got to exchange notes with Jaideep Ahlawat and Zeeshan Ayyub. In Guilty Minds it was Shriya Pilgaonkar and Varun Mitra. This is exciting stuff and after all these years, writers, producers and filmmakers have shown renewed faith in my ability as an actor. I’ve always wanted to do a badass role like that of Handa in Bloody Brothers. Bhalla in Guilty Minds is such a remarkably different guy. I am truly enjoying these new opportunities.”

Remind Kaushik that his iconic comedy character of Calendar from Mr India is more than 35-years-old now and he laughs out loud. He’s not one to turn blasé with experience. He says, “I am a workaholic and my hunger to do good work is still alive. I love getting out of bed and looking forward to stepping out for shoots. In fact, I felt blessed that during the pandemic, when so many people were confined to their homes, I was lucky enough to have plenty of roles and to be on sets shooting non-stop.”

He does lay emphasis on the fact that shooting in bio bubble was important. He adds, “Whether we shot with the Amazon crew or the Zee 5 crew, utmost care was taken about COVID protocols and keeping safe distances. But now that everything is open, I am looking forward to doing more roles and exciting new outdoor projects like my next film Thar.

Thar is an adventure thriller set Rajasthan and it features Kaushik’s bestie Anil Kapoor and his son Harsh Varrdhan. Talking about the film, Kaushik says, “Thar is a totally unique film based in the desert. It’s going to be an all-new experience for the audience and I had a blast shooting for it in the desert. It was tough, but it was creatively satisfying as well.”
