According to the latest reports in Mirror, the Oscar winner will join David Letterman on his chat show titled ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction’. Smith’s appearance is due to air on May 20, unfortunately for fans, the chat may not include the infamous Oscar slapgate scandal, as it was taped prior to the awards show.
Other celebrity guests on the show include Cardi B, Kevin Durant, Billie Eilish, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Ryan Reynolds.
Meanwhile, on the personal front, it has been reported that the actor is seeking therapy after his outburst at the Oscars. Entertainment Tonight states that the star “has been going to therapy after the Oscars incident” involving Chris Rock.
Besides seeking therapy, Smith was also spotted in Mumbai, to reportedly visit a temple that hosts daily meditation and puja ceremonies for devotees.
Will Smith made news around the world when he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars for passing a joke against his wife, Jada Pinkett- Smith. The incident lead to the star being suspended from the Oscars for a period of 10 years. Following the incident, several production companies have also reportedly pulled out of backing Smith’s projects.
As for Jada, she returned to work on the fifth season of her talk show Red Table Talk.
The star couple was back in the news this week after a copycat attacker stormed on stage and assaulted comedian Dave Chappelle during a performance. The man identified as Isaiah Lee, was charged by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office with battery, possession of a weapon with intent to assault and two other misdemeanour counts.
“As unfortunate and unsettling as the incident was, Chappelle went on with the show,” his spokesperson, Carla Sims, said in a statement on Wednesday, crediting Chris Rock and fellow comedian-actor Jamie Foxx with helping to “calm the crowd.”
