‘Raksha Bandhan’ box office collection Day 7: Akshay Kumar starrer ends first week with Rs 37.50 crore collection – Times of India

The Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Raksha Bandhan’ saw its collections dip further on its seventh day at the box office.

The film raked in an estimated Rs 1.15 crore as it completed its first week at the ticket windows. The total now stands at an estimated Rs 37.50 crore nett. According to boxoffice India, the film’s first-week collection is the lowest for the year 2022. The actor’s previous releases ‘Bachchhan Paandey’ earned an estimated Rs 47.90 crore while his summer release ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ earned Rs 55 crore by the end of Week 1.

‘Raksha Bandhan’ had a lukewarm opening with a collection of around Rs 8 crore. Despite good reviews, the film’s collections continued to dip over its extended holiday weekend. It saw a rise in numbers on Sunday, but numbers quickly dropped on Monday.

Following the Independence Day holiday, the film reportedly saw an 80% drop in collections with theatre owners reportedly cancelling shows to make up for the poor footfalls.

Although there is not major film release, it appears that the Hindi dubbed version of the south film ‘Karthikeya 2’ is slowly wooing over the audience.

According to trade experts, Raksha Bandhan is expected to bow out of theatres with a lifetime collection of around Rs 50 crore.
