Black Adam early Twitter review: Dwayne Johnson starrer opens to mixed reviews, but DC fans say it is “everything Batman vs Superman’ should’ve been” – Times of India

The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change with Dwayne The Rock Johnson stepping up as the new anti-hero ‘Black Adam’.

The film that opened in India on Thursday, a day before its global premiere, received rather mixed reviews, and we aren’t just talking about the critics. Ahead of its release, the film received a low rating of around 54% on Rotten Tomatoes. It marked the lowest such figure for a DC film since 2017’s ‘Justice League’, which netted a 23 % score from top critics.

However, as fans of the DCEU headed to theatres to catch the early screenings, many weren’t too disappointed. “I Think @TheRock’s #BlackAdam is very good. The only Thing is, I’m sad about is the Story. so much potential that was not exhausted,” read one of the early Twitter reviews.

Another, said, “JUST FINISHED BLACK ADAM. I looooooved it! Constant action, some good laughs and Black Adam himself is just so fun. I wasn’t disappointed.”

“Let me tell you that Black Adam is everything BvS should have been if Snyder didn’t try to copy Nolan. A fu**in good and entertaining and badass movie,” read another tweet.

Another moviegoer said, “I laughed, I gasped, I panicked, I smiled, I almost cried, and then I cheered. it was amazing.”

There were a few others who said “I would say Black Adam is going to be exactly like Eternals a bunch of characters meeting up no time for development among them and a rushed story and plot. Eternals wasn’t bad but it wasn’t very good either. It’s crazy to think people enjoy something more than the other. lol”

Another tweet read, “I liked JSA, some really good stuff there and Black Adam was done well. The thing is, the film could have been great. Story, action, characters, lore/mythology all have great things and moments, but the film is just fine. Just what we are used to.”

Despite the mixed reviews, one thing that all superhero movie fans could agree upon was the return of Henry Cavill as Superman. “It’s a good day to be a @DCComics fan!!” read a tweet.

A leaked video of the film’s post-credit scene confirmed that Cavill would return as the Man of Steel in the film that also stars Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Sarah Shahi as Isis, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone.
