Veteran actress Sonali Chakraborty’s death leaves Tollywood in shock – Times of India


The news of veteran Bengali actress Sonali Chakraborty’s demise has left Tollywood in shock. The popular actress breathed her last at a city hospital on November 31 morning after undergoing treatment for the past few months.

Sonali, wife of seasoned actor Shankar Chakraborty, was a well-known face both on the big screen and small screen. She acted in several Bnegali hits including Rachana Banerjee and Ferdous Ahmed-starrer Har Jeet (2002) and Jeet and Koel Mallick starrer Bandhan (2004) to name a few. However, over the years the senior Tollywood actress was part of a number of popular TV serials and her natural acting earning Sonali appreciation from all corners.

Sonali Chakraborty had cut short her silver screen appearances in the recent past because of prolonged health issues. She was admitted to the hospital earlier this year. She was reportedly suffering from chronic Liver disease. On Monday morning, her husband Shankar Chakraborty took to his social media handle to announce the news.

The West Bengal Motion Picture Artists’ Forum has expressed grief at the tragic news while the death of the veteran actress has left several Tolly stars mourning. Sonali’s last rites were performed at Keoratola Crematorium at 10:30 am.
