Parineeti Chopra talks about being body shamed when she entered the film industry – Times of India

Parineeti Chopra recently spoke on body shaming at an event in the capital in a session titled, ‘Unchai Par Parineeti.’ She is being feted for the success of her newly released film, Uunchai, starring megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Anumpam Kher, Danny Denzongpa, Neena Gupta, Sarika and Boman Irani.

However, she has not forgotten her beginning stint in the Bollywood industry where she first faced criticism for being overweight. But she did not let that body shaming episode get to her, she revealed in her talk. Instead she determinedly hit the gym, followed a strict fitness regime and toned up.

Body shaming is very real in the film industry. Only recently, Saiyami Kher talked about being trolled for her nose and lips and even Priyanka Chopra claimed that she was called a ‘black cat’ when she was making inroads into the film industry. Readers will recall how even Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was trolled when she had put on weight after her daughter’s delivery. Miss Universe 2021, Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu was very upset when she was labelled fat. She revealed that she had been suffering from Celiac disease.
