Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ has a strong connection with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose! – Times of India

SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’ continues to make India proud by winning two awards at the 28th Critics Choice Awards – the Best Song for ‘Naatu Naatu’ and Best Foreign Language Film. The film had earlier won a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for ‘Naatu Naatu’. Team ‘RRR’ is now focused on the Oscars, with fans praying the film bags a Best Picture nomination. Interestingly, the blockbuster film has a connection with Bengal and that is none other than Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
Rajamouli himself shared it during a recent interview while speaking about the film’s historical significance. Speaking about the film and it’s historical significance he said that ‘RRR’ is the story of two legendary freedom fighters Alluri Seetharama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Alluri Seetharama Raju became a legend after he fought against the British in the jungles of Andhra Pradesh. Although he was killed by the British the story of his brave fight is etched in the history of India’s freedom movement. But only the people of the state knew this story since there’s hardly any mention about it and the story didn’t reach across India. Rajamouli further added that a few years later when Netaji visited Visakhapatnam he told the world about Alluri Seetharama Raju’s brave fight against the British police.

According to him, RRR does have a nice connection with Bengal through Netaji. So, ‘RRR’ getting worldwide appreciation is indeed a proud moment for Bengal as well.
‘RRR’, the global blockbuster which released in India on March 24, 2022 also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn alongside British actors Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris in key roles. Such is the global response to the film that ‘RRR’ is going places winning hearts.
