Pathaan BEATS KGF 2 and Baahubali 2 to become the top first weekend grosser of all time – Times of India



Pathaan has created a storm at the box office. The Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham starrer has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark at domestic box office in 4 days and surpassed the Rs 300 crore mark worldwide in just 3 days.
The film released on January 25 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The Hindi version of the film earned a record breaking Rs 160 crore nett over its first three days, reports Box Office India. The film has thus beaten KGF 2 (Hindi) by a huge 20 crore nett and original Hindi film Sanju by 40 crore nett.

Pathaan has thus become the only Shah Rukh Khan film in the list of top ten weekend grossers. The top ten opening weekends for Hindi language films are as follows:
1. Pathaan (Hindi) – 1,60,50,00,000
2. KGF 2 (Hindi) – 1,40,45,00,000
3. Baahubali – The Conclusion (Hindi) – 1,27,28,00,000
4. Sanju – 1,19,33,00,000
5. Tiger Zinda Hai – 1,14,91,00,000
6. Sultan – 1,05,55,00,000
7. Dangal (Hindi) – 1,04,53,00,000
8. Brahmastra (Hindi) – 1,02,54,00,000
9. Bajrangi Bhaijaan – 1,01,42,00,000
10. Race 3 – 1,00,64,00,000

Speaking about this record, director Siddharth Anand said in a statement, “It feels incredible to deliver the biggest 3-day collection in the history of Hindi cinema. For someone, who is passionately committed to his craft, this is simply a phenomenal result that will inspire me to push the envelope of cinema in India even further.”

With its opening weekend record, Pathaan has also created two new feats – the fastest Hindi film to breach 300 crore worldwide barrier and, the first Hindi film to collect over 300 crore gross on its opening weekend.
