Robert Pattinson’s ‘The Batman Part II’ set for October 2025 release! Director Matt Reeves calls sequel ‘EPIC. CRIME. SAGA’ – Times of India

Robert Pattinson will be flying back in action as Bruce Wayne in the sequel to director Matt Reeves’ smash hit ‘The Batman’. On Wednesday, new DC Studios boss James Gunn announced a new slate for the DCEU and revealed that ‘The Batman Part II’ has been locked for an October 3, 2025 release.
It was also confirmed that Reeves’ detective-driven interpretation of ‘The Batman’ will officially be a trilogy. However, the film series will not be a part of the DCEU storytelling, but will be dubbed – DC Elseworlds. Along with ‘The Batman Part II,’ the schedule will include Todd Phillips’ ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’ starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, the ongoing animated series ‘Teen Titans Go!’ and a separate Superman film by J.J. Abrams and written by Ta-Nehisi.

Reacting to the exciting news, the director took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “EPIC. CRIME. SAGA.”

‘The Batman’ was a massive box office success for the Warner Bros and immediately generated conversations about the future in the new DC universe. Reeves has long expressed his hopes to make a BatVerse trilogy. However, he also expressed his goal to ensure that both universes “don’t crash” in terms of storytelling.

As Reeves put it, “We want to support each other.”

Reeves’ BatVerse kicked off last year with his Robert Pattinson-starring ‘The Batman’, which earned critical acclaim and grossed $770 million at the worldwide box office. Warner Bros. officially confirmed plans to make ‘The Batman 2’ with Reeves and Pattinson less than two months after the first film’s release.

The universe will continue with a Colin Farrell-starring Penguin series on HBO Max.

As part of the DC Universe Phase 1 announcement by DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran confirmed that Reeves is planning to make a trilogy of films and ‘The Penguin’ HBO series, which he described as being part of an overall “crime saga”.

It was also suggested that ‘The Batman Part II’ could begin prepping for filming sometime this year.

The two also declared that a Batman and Robin film, based on ‘The Brave and the Bold’ comics, will be a part of the DC Universe.
