Bhumi Pednekar reacts to Ratna Pathak Shah’s comment about stars being too dependent on their entourage – Times of India

Recently, in an interview, veteran actress Ratna Pathak Shah took a jibe at the younger actors who are considered superstars. She commented that they are so dependent on their entourage that they can’t even hold a coffee cup by themselves. They need an assistant to order coffee in a plane, open for them, then they take a sip and give it back. “What are you? A three month old?,” said the actress. She further questioned if the kind of money which producers spend on the star’s entourage, do these actors bring in those numbers at the box-office in return? The actress further added that because of this, stars aren’t able to remain grounded and that also affects their work, in an interview with Film Companion.
While Ratna did make quite a valid point, actress Bhumi Pednekar has reacted to her statement, in an interview with the same portal. She said that everyone’s views are respected but she feels that with every generation, it’s up to them as to how they want to stay connected to their craft or how they want to stay grounded. It differs as per everyone’s individual choices. Bhumi added that she could be sitting on a chair in the middle of her set and still not speak to anyone or she could be in her van which she uses to get ready. It’s about how disconnected one is, from the outside world.

Bhumi who is promoting her film ‘Bheed’ at the moment, with Rajkummar Rao said that actors today are very fortunate that they have the kind of space now which may be people of the earlier generations didn’t get. She called her vanity van her ‘secure space’. At the end of the day, it’s all about creating a democratic environment which keeps one grounded, shared Bhumi.
Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Bheed’ will release on March 24. It also stars Dia Mirza, Pankaj Kapur among others.
