Kay Kay Menon and Ranvir Shorey set to star as India’s Sherlock Holmes and Watson: Reports – Times of India

Adaptation is seemingly the in word for producers and creators at BBC Studios. Else what could be the reason behind them adapting nearly half a dozen of their successful shows in India, right from Criminal Justice (starring Pankaj Tripathi), Luther ( Rudra: The Edge of Darkness starring Ajay Devgn ) and The Night Manager ( starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Anil Kapoor) .
As per a report on peepingmoon.com, the makers at BBC Studios have greenlit an adaptation of the very famous Sherlock Holmes in India. The report also suggests that Kay Kay Menon will essay the titular role and Ranvir Shorey will play Dr John Watson. Srijit Mukherji, who last directed Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga with Pankaj Tripathi and Shabaash Mithu with Taapsee Pannu will be the director of the show. The show goes on floors in April in Kolkata and has been contextualized in an Indian setting.

Sherlock is based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes detective stories. It was adapted into a show by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss which featured Benedict Cumberbatch as the lead and was a resounding success across the globe.
Kay Kay Menon was last seen in Farzi with Shahid Kapoor, whereas Ranvir Shorey’s last outing was the much loved Tabbar.
