Vivek Agnihotri claims he has been totally boycotted in Bollywood, targets Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri recently sat down for a conversation with filmmaker Sudhir Mishra where they talked about Bollywood, politics and the kind of content that is being produced today in the Hindi film industry.
Discussing about why people are not watching movies in cinema halls, Vivek claimed that he has been totally boycotted in Bollywood. He said that he has found solace in middle-class people and while talking to the housewives, they have mentioned their issues about over-exposure and vulgar display of physical attitude. He added that people are irritated because films do not address the real concerns.
Vivek then went on to cite the example of Karan Johar‘s directorial Student Of The Year and blatantly asked if the youth shown in the movie relate to the youth of this country. He said that when he watched Deewar, he instantly related to it but he feels that today there is no relatability.

When Vivek asked why filmmakers are disrespecting the the sensibilities of the audience, Sudhir told him that the audience has also become lazy. However, Vivek disagreed with him and argued that boycott Bollywood trend is not fake. He said that he wants to understand who are the audience of the films which are being made these days.
The Kashmir Files director then mentioned that only him and Kangana Ranaut are questioning the practices of the Hindi film industry. He said that if the establishment does something wrong, we have the right to question it.
