Talking about his love for the game, Varun added that he primarily recognizes himself as a batsman.”I’m definitely a batsman and when it comes to the underarm, I’l bowl a bit. But I’m just a regular Indian boy who loves playing cricket,” shared the actor. Varun also revealed that he played cricket on the turf a few days ago with his friends but he generally doesn’t get much chance to play the game as he’s busy and traveling on most days.
Varun also shared his biggest cricket memory belongs to the 1998 Sharjah Cup in UAE, where Sachin hammered the Australian cricket team and in the middle of the game there was a desert storm. Talking about it he mentioned, “It was crazy, it was actually like a miracle unfolding in front of us and no one expected India to make it to the finals of the cup but we did.” The actor also revealed that his dad David Dhawan is the best cricketer in his family. Varun said, “Dad is a spinner and he actually even played the game at a professional level for Punjab at one point in time.” The actor also shared that he loves watching the game with his dad as he is so passionate about the game and has already begun discussing the World Cup and how he’s clued in already as to which team has arrived and who are they playing etc.
Last seen in Bawaal, Varun has Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK’s spy series Citadel in the pipeline. He will be seen sharing the frame with Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Sikander Kher in this OTT drama.
