Asha Parekh criticises makers of ‘The Kashmir Files’; asks if they contributed their profits for welfare of Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Asha Parekh recently slammed the makers of ‘The Kashmir Files‘ by questioning them if they contributed their profits for the welfare of Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir.
Despite controversies surrounding the film, the film garnered immense popularity. It also did record-breaking collections at the box office. Talking about the same, Asha Parekh raised a contentious point and said that the producer of the film made Rs 400 crore.The veteran star also went on to question if the makers contributed for the welfare of the Hindus living in Jammu and Kashmir. According to her, the people there still don’t have basic facilities like water and electricity.

Elaborating further, Asha added that after paying everybody else’s share, the producers will have their share of profit. According to her, if they earned Rs 200 crore out of the film’s Rs 400 crore earnings, they could have donated Rs 50 crore to help the people.

‘The Kashmir Files’ was written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri. It delves into the heart-wrenching exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley during the early stages of the armed insurgency in the early 1990s. Vivek Agnihotri, along with his wife Pallavi Joshi, Tej Narayan Agarwal, and Abhishek Agarwal, produced the movie. Pallavi Joshi not only co-produced the film but also played a significant lead role in it. Her exceptional performance earned her the prestigious National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.

The cast of the movie featured renowned actors such as Mithun Chakraborty and Anupam Kher in the lead roles, and the film was further recognized with the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration. “The Kashmir Files” stands as a poignant and thought-provoking cinematic depiction of a crucial and sensitive chapter in India’s history.
