Will Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ be postponed to avoid a box office clash with Prabhas starrer ‘Salaar’? | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Shah Rukh Khan’s much-anticipated film, ‘Dunki,’ which he announced would hit theaters around ‘Christmas or New Year,’ is reportedly facing a potential postponement. The reason behind this delay is to prevent a box office clash with Prabhas‘ upcoming entertainer, ‘Salaar – Part 1: Ceasefire,’ which is also scheduled for release in December.
Film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan recently shared his insights on the matter, speculating that ‘Dunki’ could be rescheduled to avoid a simultaneous release with ‘Salaar.’ This move would give Prabhas’ film a solo release, potentially breaking records at the box office.Further supporting the idea of ‘Dunki’ postponement, reports indicate that delayed post-production processes could be causing the film’s team to reevaluate its December 22 release date. However, an official confirmation is awaited from the production team of ‘Dunki’.
‘Salaar’ was previously slated for a September 28 release but was deferred due to unforeseen circumstances. With a new release date set for December 22, fans of Prabhas are eagerly anticipating the film’s theatrical debut.
Directed by the renowned Prashant Neel, ‘Salaar’ features an ensemble cast including Shruti Haasan and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles. The film’s intriguing storyline and action-packed sequences have generated significant buzz among moviegoers.
On the other hand, after the success of ‘Jawan’, Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’ is the most anticipated film of SRK. It is said to be an immigration drama and also stars Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal in pivotal roles. Earlier, reports suggested that SRK and Rajkumar Hirani wanted to postpone Dunki as they felt no sense in releasing a third Shah Rukh Khan film in the same year. However, at a Jawan event SRK put an end to all speculations and said, “God has been very kind we have had Pathaan. God has been even kinder with Jawan and I always say this. We started on January 26, Republic Day (with Pathaan), it’s a good auspicious day. On Janmashtami, on Krishnajis birthday we released this film (Jawan). Now New Year and Christmas are around the corner, we will release Dunki. I keep National integration.”
