Some movies leave such a lasting impression that even decades post their release, they are counted among the classics. Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Khakee’ without a doubt is one of them. Released in 2004, the cop drama had Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Tusshar Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead. Next year, i.e., in 2024, the movie will complete 20 years, and on this occasion, filmmaker Aryeman Ramsay will be taking the sequel of ‘Khakee’ on the floors.
Aryeman Ramsay, who is the son of renowned late producer Keshu Ramsay, who bankrolled the 2004 film, spoke to News18 about the same. He said that the planning for the ‘Khakee’ sequel is on the table. The makers have the basic plot in mind and the scripting is in the process. The shooting will commence next year, as the original ‘Khakee’ will ring in its 20th anniversary in 2024.
Without revealing much about the movie, he mentioned that the script is fresh and is set in the current time. However, at the same time, it will have a continuation from 2004.Aryeman Ramsay also spoke about the cast of the movie. He said that he is very close to Akshay Kumar but since his character’s life ended in the movie, he can’t be roped into the sequel. Similar is the case with Ajay Devgn and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. On the other hand, the filmmaker will be speaking to Big B, once the scripting is done. He would also like Tusshar to continue his character in the movie, and there will be some fresh faces in the sequel as well.
Last but not least, Rajkumar Santoshi who directed the first part, will be helming the sequel too.
