The actress, became the target of social media trolls when she revealed that both she and Ranveer were seeing other people, during the early phase of their romance. “I didn’t commit, until he proposed to me,” she said and went on to explain, “There was no ‘commitment’ as such.Even if we were technically allowed to see other people, we would just keep coming back to each other.”
The clip and Ranveer’s reaction to Deepika’s tell-all drew mixed reactions from fans and haters alike. While some labelled this period as DeepVeer’s ‘situationship’, others resorted to shaming the actress.
Amidst all the reactions, a video from KWK Season 4 served as the perfect blast from the past as DP’s latest statements seem to be the opposite of what she said a decade ago. The clip in question featured Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra as guests on the 2013 show. During the chat, Deepika shared her views on romance and relationships and said, “I don’t know how to just casually date.”
Deepika reflected on her failed relationships and said, “Since then, I won’t say cautious’, but I think I’m very scared to invest emotionally in a relationship. Because I don’t know how to just casually date. I don’t know how to be in this inbetween, dating-but-not-commiting. I don’t know that space.”
“I think I want to be very, very sure before I am ready to commit,” she adds.
Interestingly, social media users pointed out that Deepika made these statements right about the same time that she was dating Ranveer and ‘other men’. The timeline of their 11-year romance became clear after Ranveer revealed that he proposed to Deepika in 2015, three years before they could tie the knot in Italy. The two also revealed that they began casually dating after starring together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela’. The film was released in 2013.
