Vaibhavi Merchant reveals Shah Rukh Khan went out of his way for doing Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya song from Jawan: He would sweat a lot on an AC set | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant, who is currently gearing up for the release of Salman Khan‘s Tiger 3, recently opened up about Shah Rukh Khan‘s prep for Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya song from his all-time blockbuster Jawan, directed by Atlee.
She told Zoom that SRKhad put extraordinary effort for the song as he had to shoot both the father and the son’s characters simultaneously. The song featured SRK’s characters Vikram Rathore and his son Azad grooving together in the same frame.
She revealed that SRK switched looks and endured lengthy sessions of prosthetic makeup, which took about two-and-a-half hours. The choreographer shot it with this special camera that is a motion control camera called the Bolt, which itself takes about two-and-a-half-hours to program. “So, we used to be pre-programmed and then he would do one character, then go back, take two hours on the chair,” Vaibhavi added. She mentioned that SRK would do the father’s character first because that would take time, then switch back to the son’s part, which again would take time to take out all the prosthetics. “Now, mind you, even though we were on an AC set, he would sweat a lot,” she said.
Vaibhavi also disclosed that Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya was originally intended to be shot in Abu Dhabi. However, due to the extreme heat conditions and Shah Rukh wearing layers of prosthetics, they had to cancel the outdoor shoot. The song was ultimately shot in 15 days.
She praised SRK for for going out of the way to take care of the team and switching between his roles and responsibilities of not just as the actor but also as the producer, co-creator of the film. He also came in to support the director and the entire cast so that nobody is feeling all the privileges are towards him.
