Sushmita Sen reveals she left a film with Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor for her daughter Renee – Times of India

Sushmita Sen, who has been garnering positive reviews from all sides for her shows ‘Taali‘ and ‘Aarya 3‘, recently recalled the time when she left a film with Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor for her daughter Renee.
In an interview with Barkha Dutt, Sushmita shared that she left a film starring Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor midway to attend to her daughter, Renee Sen. The actress said that she was cast as one of the leads in a film along with Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor.They were shooting in Canada. However, the actress had to drop the shoot midway and return him e as Renee was hospitalised in critical condition.

Elaborating further, Sushmita recalled people saying that she was not taking her career seriously as she chose to become a mother at the age of 24. However, on hearing upon her daughter, she took a flight back. The makers were considerate at the time and they let her go. However, when the actress returned after seeing Renee through one week of hospitalisation, the damage was done.

In the year 2000, Sushmita Sen adopted a six-month-old girl named Renee. Around the same time, Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor collaborated in the movies ‘Ajnabee’ (2001) and ‘Aitraaz’ (2004). Looking at the timeline, it’s possible that Sushmita Sen was initially considered for a role in ‘Aitraaz’ but might have been replaced by Priyanka Chopra later on. In ‘Ajnabee,’ Akshay and Kareena shared the screen with Bobby Deol and Bipasha Basu.

Sushmita had also suffered a heart attack while she was shooting for ‘Aarya 3’. The actress underwent a surgery and got back on the set as soon as she recovered.
