Ranbir Kapoor and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal has opened the floodgates at the box office, despite being 3 hours and 21 minutes long, getting an A certificate from the censors and some critics taking the film to the cleaners pointing out the toxicity of male characters. Within just 5 days the film had gone on to become Ranbir’s second biggest hit earning nearly Rs 282.96 crore displacing Brahmastra: Part One-Shiva which had made Rs 257.44 crore in its lifetime in India.

And on the sixth day, as per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film is expected to earn nearly Rs 30 crore, taking the grand total of the film to nearly 312.96 crore across languages.Thus beating Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Tiger 3 which after 26 days of its release had collected about Rs 282 crore.The film stands on the third position of the highest Monday collection for a film in Hindi beating the likes ofTiger Zinda Hai, Jawan and Gadar 2. The top position is held by Tiger 3 with Rs 58 crore and second by Baahubali 2- The Conclusion with Rs 40.24 crore.
Ranbir recently spoke about how real life experiences shaped his portrayal in the film. He said, “I lost my father and I feel everyone who loses a parent, they feel they haven’t spent enough time with them. While I was growing up, my father was very busy. Shooting most of the time, doing double shifts, he was traveling. So, somewhere we saw him with a lot of love and respect but there was never really a friendly relationship between us. We could not just sit and chat and I have this one regret in my life that I wish I could be friends with my father. I wish I could share everything with him. That is one regret I will always live with.”
Besides Ranbir Kapoor, Animal also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna and Triptii Dimri.
