Bobby Deol reveals ‘Race 3’ and ‘Housefull 4’ didn’t satisfy him | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Actor Bobby Deol, amidst his recent acclaim for his negative portrayal in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal,’ candidly revealed his dissatisfaction with his roles in Salman Khan’s ‘Race 3’ and the ensemble comedy ‘Housefull 4.’ Though these big-budget ventures amplified his visibility, they fell short of providing him with the creative fulfillment he sought.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Bobby reflected on this phase, acknowledging that while these films did introduce him to a younger audience, they didn’t align with his artistic aspirations. He attributed his resurgence as an actor to the OTT platform, notably starting with the film ‘Class of 83.’
“It all started for me with ‘Class of 83,’ where people began to believe in me as an actor. Then came ‘Aashram,'” Bobby shared, emphasizing the pivotal role of Prakash Jha’s series in reshaping his career trajectory. Portraying Baba Nirala in ‘Aashram’ marked a significant shift, leading to both critical acclaim and substantial viewership.
However, Bobby confessed to concealing his involvement in ‘Aashram’ from his family, harboring concerns that their influence might deter him from taking up the challenging role. “I was determined to do it. I only confided in my wife, who supported and understood my vision,” he explained, highlighting her unwavering encouragement.
Reflecting on the aftermath, Bobby expressed gratitude for the overwhelming love received post-‘Aashram,’ likening its impact to his brother Sunny Deol’s iconic film ‘Gadar’ in the realm of OTT platforms.
In ‘Animal,’ where Bobby shares the screen with Ranbir Kapoor, the film’s release faced social media backlash due to its controversial portrayal of women, despite its box office success.
