He argued that ‘Animal’ has generated more engagement from feminists in the country than any other feminist film, sparking extensive discussions on misogyny. In his view, the film is contributing positively by addressing important societal issues.
Additionally, he emphasized that a significant number of people learned about feminism because of ‘Animal.’ Anurag asserted the importance of provocateurs in society, stating that they play a crucial role in facilitating understanding. According to him, ‘Animal’ and the subsequent discussions surrounding it contributed to educating more individuals about feminism. Anurag challenged the apprehension towards provocateurs, asserting that being provoked is beneficial. As a filmmaker, he expressed his consistent aim to create discomfort through his films, citing ‘Ugly’ as an example where he intended to leave the audience uneasy to the point of losing sleep.
