According to reports, the film began its Friday with a significant dip in numbers. Sacnilk.com reported that the movie which earned an estimated Rs 30 crore on its first day began its second day collections with an estimated Rs 96 Lakh coming in from morning bookings.
With a current total of Rs 30.96 crore, reports state that the film will pick up its momentum through the day with a significant earning coming in from evening shows.
This dip in numbers could also be linked to the clash with the Prabhas starrer ‘Salaar’ which hit theatres worldwide today. Due to high demand for the film, movie theatres around the country began screening shows at midnight.
While the first-day performance had hinted at a favorable response, the dip in collections on day 2 suggests that ‘Dunki’ may have to put up a good fight to score big at the box office. Trade experts had predicted a slow start to the film’s box office numbers, indicating that Rajkumar Hinri films depended on good reviews and good word of mouth to propell its collections in the long run.
‘Salaar’, on the other hand, is an action entertainer and was set to start off its box office collections with a bang. However, despite the buzz around the film, the huge Rs 95 crore opening took many by surprise.
Prior to the release of ‘Dunki’, Shah Rukh delivered back-to-back hits with ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan’. Both action films scored box office collections of over Rs 1000 crore. Shah Rukh is currently the only actor in the Indian film industry with two Rs 1000 crore movies to his name.
