Bhumi Pednekar, who will be next seen playing an investigative journalist trying to save girls from sexual abuse in Bhakshak, recently opened up about a traumatic incident from her teenage years that continues to haunt her. At the age of 14, Bhumi faced an unfortunate incident where a stranger inappropriately touched her in a crowded space.
Recounting the distressing episode, Bhumi told Hauterrfly that she had gone to a fair in Bandra with her family and while she was walking, somebody kept pinching her a*s.She looked back but she couldn’t understand who did it because it was very crowded.
“Somebody tried touching me inappropriately again and again, and I was getting paranoid. Though I was with my family, there also was a whole bunch of kids from my building as well. But I didn’t say anything at that time because I was thrown off by what had happened,” she stated.
Speaking about the lasting impact of such incidents, Bhumi said that she still remembers how the poking and the pinching felt. “It’s like your body remembers… these are traumas that you can’t get over,” she said.

Bhumi further revealed that her friends have also gone through such horrifying incidents. She recalled that an autorickshaw driver in Juhu had flashed his private parts to her friends right outside their school area.

“We used to walk back home during that time. He would ‘do his business’ (in front of us). This is a sickness. How do you reach that stage of such heightened emotion that you think this is normal? A lot of it comes from education. (When facing such incidents) At that moment, you are so paralysed and traumatised, you just don’t know what to do… You feel so violated,” the actress shared.
