Anu Malik reveals Shah Rukh Khan got his nickname ‘King Khan’ after his movie ‘Baadshah’ | – Times of India



Abbas-Mustan‘s ‘Baadshah‘, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Twinkle Khanna in the lead roles, recently completed 25 glorious years. On this special occasion, Anu Malik spilled the beans on the music of the film, working on the film and more.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, the music composer-singer discussed the creation of the title track, ‘Baadshah O Baadshah,’ emphasizing its significant recall value for him.He mentioned that during a flight, he had hummed the tune with different lyrics to Shah Rukh Khan, who instantly loved it. Together, they settled on the word ‘Baadshah.’ When Abbas-Mustan heard the idea, they found it suitable for the title track. The success of this song led to Shah Rukh Khan earning the monikers ‘King Khan‘ and ‘Baadshah.’ It’s worth noting that Malik had previously composed for an SRK film in 1994 (Baazigar).

The 63-year-old also attributes the success of the film to the director duo’s “interesting and unique” storytelling. According to him, Abbas-Mustan infuse a lot of thrill and suspense into their films. Malik believes that for ‘Baadshah,’ everything aligned perfectly, including the star cast. He sees the enduring relevance of the film 25 years later as a testament to the collaborative effort that paid off, emphasizing that the film rightfully deserves its continued significance.

Malik expresses pride in the work he has accomplished in the years following the film.
