Post the success of ‘Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire’ fans of Prabhas are looking forward to the release of Nag Ashiwn’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan. The film for the longest time was referred to as Project K, but when it had its first look revealed at San Diego Comic Con, the makers shared Prabhas’s first look from the film and also the title. ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ was supposed to release in January but for now it has been pushed to 9th May 2024.
And now it has been revealed that the makers will be releasing ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ on their own. It is being said that the makers were quoting a price upwards of Rs 110 crore for the overseas rights, this kind of amount has never been discussed in international markets. If one goes by past records of leading movies, ‘Salaar’ wrapped at overseas box office at Rs 149 crore while Kamal Haasan’s film Vikram ended its run at Rs 123 crore.
Coming to ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, the overseas distributors were apparently ready for an advance basis release deal, but not at the price the makers were quoting. After going back and forth, the backers of the film have decided to release ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ on their own, as they are extremely positive about the project.
