The 37-year-old dancer Sunil Jadhav passed away. He suffered a cardiac arrest during the rehearsal of the Marathi filmVeer Garza Baazi.’
The late artist’s family is getting a lot of support from individual dancers, coordinators, and choreographers. Dancer-turned-coordinator Raj Surani who has been at the forefront and has always been fighting for dancers to get the right food on set and good payment said, ‘We have collected about Rs1.25 lakh and will be doing more collection. We will hand over the money to his family.”
Surani further added, “I have been a dancer, worked on a lot of film and it is important for dancers to know that they have a short shelf life. Therefore need to have an alternate career to secure themselves. Also, fitness is important, and a healthy diet as they have to rehearse for 12-12 hours it may look good on screen but it is definitely strenuous for us.”
Apart from the dancers, the All India Film and Television Dance Coordinators Association has donated Rs 1.5lakh to Jadhav’s family.
President of the association Gangeshwar Srivastav said, “We have donated Rs 1.5 lakh and are trying to get in touch with the production house with the help of FWICE so that the family can get help from them too.”
