Throwback: When Farah Khan made Deepika Padukone cry on the sets of Om Shanti Om | – Times of India

Farah Khan is credited for Deepika Padukone‘s debut in Bollywood, as she cast her opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om. The film was a major launchpad for the model turned actress, as she had a dual role in the film. The movie went on to be one of the biggest hits of the year, and one of the biggest hits of Shah Rukh Khan’s career till then. However, things were not always rosy on the sets, as there was a day when Farah reprimanded Deepika so much that she began crying.
Sharing the incident on Koffee with Karan ‘s second season when she graced the show with Shah Rukh Khan , Farah said , “ I made her cry once …” Hearing this, Deepika mentioned that it was her fault. Karan interjected here and said, “why, because she forgot her lines?’ and Farah said ‘ Yes..that’s when I realized that she is just 21 because I’m so used to Deepika being so composed and she taking everything in her stride and Deepika not being nervous. She was partying at Shah Rukh’s house and didn’t learn her lines.” Jumping to her defense, Deepika said , “He ( pointing at Shah Rukh Khan) didn’t let me go… blame him for that ( laughs).”
Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan have been close friends for many years. Farah made her debut under SRK’s banner Red Chillies with Main Hoon Na, one of the biggest hits of SRK’s career. Together they also made Happy New Year with Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah.
