Not Amitabh Bachchan, Arun Govil to play Dashrath in Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ | – Times of India

There is a lot of buzz surrounding Nitesh Tiwari”s ‘Ramayana‘, especially about its ensemble star cast. While Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash are playing the lead roles, speculations around others are doing the rounds.
Reports were recently rife that the makers of the film had roped in Bollywood’s megastar Amitabh Bachchan for the role of Raja Dashrath.However, a source close to the film has informed ETimes that it is not Big B but Arun Govil who has been approached for the Nitesh Tiwari directorial. So there is going to be a connection between the present day Ramayan and the old Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan after all!

According to other reports doing the rounds, Sunny Deol will be seen essaying the role of Hanuman, Lara Dutta will be playing the role of Kaikeyi and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen as Shurpanakha in the film.

Filming for ‘Ramayana’ is scheduled to commence in March 2024, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi. Sunny Deol will join the shoot in May, with Yash joining in July. The team aims to conclude filming after Yash’s scenes, aiming for a Diwali 2025 release. Additionally, Ranbir Kapoor was reported to have traveled to Los Angeles for pre-visualization work with the hired VFX company.

Nitesh Tiwari’s last directed Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor starrer ‘Bawaal’. The film received mixed reviews from the audience and the critics alike.
