Emraan Hashmi on Resilience in Bollywood: ‘You Have to Roll with the Punches’ | – Times of India

Emraan Hashmi is having a resurgence of sorts in his career; after a long drought, he is being seen in back to back projects. Last year, he was seen taking on Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in Tiger 3, and now he has Karan Johar’s OTT show Showtime.
Talking at the press conference of the show, Emraan shared his views about working and surviving in the industry. He said, “When people say that Bollywood is a very bad place or it is an unfair place, I think it is a perspective of a person who is working here. If you have resilience, can roll with the punches, I don’t think it is an unfair place.”
“But if you don’t have that, if you are not willing to put in the hard work, (ready for) hardships and heartaches… Everyone works hard, so there is a factor of environment, luck. You have to be able to take it on the chin. It is a very fair place, you just have to roll with punches,” he added.
The show revolves around the world of Bollywood and how stars are made and how scripts are brought to life. Talking about it, he said “The show is about Bollywood, there are a lot of things in it we have dabbled with following the main story. It is about star egos, what is it to be a woman in this industry, how a film is made, what are the conversations that happen in a producer’s office when a film is being made. It unmasks those vulnerabilities.”
“There is this external shame that our industry has, this superficiality from the outside that the show unmasks. What is it to be a star on the Friday morning when a film is releasing? It gives an in-depth insight into the world of Bollywood– that is beautiful, chaotic, entertaining,” he added.
