Abhishek Bachchan’s Rejected Movies Became Aamir Khan’s Biggest Blockbusters | – Times of India

In the realm of missed opportunities, one person’s loss often becomes another’s gain, showcasing the unpredictable dance of fortune in the intricate tapestry of life. An example of the same is Abhishek Bachchan and Aamir Khan. Abhishek Bachchan, known for his successful Bollywood career, also holds the distinction of turning down roles that later became pivotal for Aamir Khan‘s career.
Firstly, Abhishek was the initial choice for Ashutosh Gowariker‘s sports drama ‘Lagaan.’ However, he turned down the opportunity, and Aamir Khan took on the role, leading the film to blockbuster success. Reflecting on his decision, Bachchan admitted feeling unprepared for such an epic project at that point in his career.

“I was convinced I was not right for the part. I was way too raw and young to shoulder a film as epic as Lagaan. Of course, I knew it was going to be huge. But I was just not ready to be part of it. I am glad Aamir did Lagaan. He brought so much magic and credibility to the project. Every film and role have their own destiny,” Abhishek expressed while talking to ETimes.
Similarly, Abhishek Bachchan was the first pick for Farhan Akhtar‘s iconic film ‘Dil Chahta Hai,’ a movie that later earned critical acclaim and became a classic with Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Akshaye Khanna in lead roles.
Additionally, Bachchan rejected Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra‘s ‘Rang De Basanti’ due to his alleged confusion caused by the director’s narration. He couldn’t understand why the movie was traveling between two time zones. For this one in particular, Abhishek blames the director’s narration. On the other hand, Aamir Khan subsequently took on the role, and the film garnered widespread acclaim.

While Aamir Khan was already an established actor before these movies, these rejections played a significant role in shaping the trajectory of his career. Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan’s recent film ‘Ghoomer’ received praise for his performance, and Aamir Khan is gearing up for his upcoming projects ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ and ‘Lahore 1947.’
