More than two decades have passed since Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker‘s cinematic masterpiece, ‘Lagaan‘, graced the silver screen and etched its place in history.
On Ashutosh Gowariker’s recent birthday, Aamir Khan’s production company treated fans to a delightful throwback behind-the-scenes (BTS) video capturing the camaraderie of the ‘Lagaan’ team.
The heartwarming video features the entire Lagaan ensemble, including Aamir Khan, joyfully singing the iconic song “Ghanan Ghanan.” Ashutosh Gowariker, the director, reminisces about the challenges faced during the song’s shoot and his decision to gather the actors for a unique bonding session. Speaking in the video, Gowariker shares, “So, we were shooting. Take, after take, after take! It was endless. I decided that something had to be done. So that night, after dinner, I called all the actors down to the dining hall. And I asked them to sing the song loudly. Their confidence levels grew. The attention was now off the lyrics but into the dancing steps.”
The BTS video not only showcases the infectious camaraderie amongst the Lagaan team but also provides a touching moment when Aamir Khan, the superstar himself, playfully forgets his lyrics, adding a touch of authenticity to the candid atmosphere.
Despite the passage of 22 years, Lagaan’s timeless appeal continues to captivate millions with its narrative and music. ‘Lagaan’ is surely a timeless classic in Indian cinema.
