Kamal Haasan reveals he was the first among the lot to ask Vijay to enter politics | – Times of India



Actor Kamal Haasan is one of the prominent film stars in India. Apart from acting in various Indian languages, he has also tried his hands on directing, lyric writing, singing and producing films. The actor is also the leader of the regional political party Makkal Needhi Maiyam. He has been juggling cinema and politics for the past few years and his political party recently turned 7.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Kamal Haasan in a public interaction while speaking about the achievements and learnings of his political career, revealed that he was one of the first few actors who encouraged Vijay to enter politics. Replying to the question of why he hasn’t taken up the file of full time politician, the Ulaga Nayagan said that for politics he needs to earn money and that’s why he still continues his career in the film industry, reportedly.
The actor adding to it, when asked his opinion on Vijay quitting the cinema field to enter politics full time; Kamal Haasan said that he was one among the first to ask Vijay to enter politics and noted that it was Vijay;s style of entering politics.
On the work front, Kamal Haasan is currently shooting for his film ‘Indian 2‘ with Shankar. The film is the sequel to the Tamil classic ‘Indian’ which was released in 1996. The movie stars Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, Bobby Simha and Priya Bhavani Shankar in prominent roles. The music for the movie is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and it is likely to release in 2024 summer. Kamal also has ‘Thug Life‘ with Mani Ratnam in the pipeline. The multistarrer cast includes Kamal Haasan, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Dulquer Salmaan, Abhirami, Nasser, Gautham Karthik, Joju George and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The music for the film is composed by AR Rahman.
