Kaun? turns 25: Manoj Bajpayee’s opinion on starring in its remake | – Times of India

The thriller Kaun? premiered on February 26, 1999, and notably, the entire production was wrapped up in just 19 days.

Featuring Manoj Bajpayee and Urmila Matondkar, the film remains a hidden gem despite its underrated status. It unfolds the gripping narrative of a serial killer, and another person confined together in a house during a stormy night.
Within the movie, Manoj Bajpayee showcased his versatility by flawlessly portraying his character. Ram Gopal Varma enlisted Anurag Kashyap, who previously collaborated with him on “Satya,” as a writer for this project.

In an old interview with IANS, Manoj Bajpayee said, “Kaun? had really mesmerized people when it was released. Till now people talk about the film, which is so overwhelming. You do something 22 years back and people still talk about it in so much detail. They remember it so vividly.”

In addition, he proceeded to say, “But I don’t think I would be part of a remake, it’s so boring. A story that you have already done… rather than doing it all over again, it is better to do something new. Anybody else should feature in it and they should experiment with the role in their own way. They may be better than me.”
The movie, helmed by Ram Gopal Varma and scripted by Anurag Kashyap, featured a cast including Urmila Matondkar, Manoj Bajpayee, and Sushant Singh. Remarkably, it was completed within a span of 19 days.

Additionally, the film underwent dubbing into Telugu with the title “Yevaru?” and was later adapted into Kannada as “Shock” in 2010.
Manoj is truly among the industry’s most exceptional actors. He never lets the size of a role deter him, understanding that it’s about the impact rather than the duration of the part.
Lately, he’s been basking in the success of “The Family Man 2” and also made a recent appearance in “Dial 100.”
Soon he will be seen in ” The Family Man 3″.
