Author Amish Tripathi reveals ‘The Immortals of Meluha’ rights is no longer with Karan Johar | – Times of India



Author Amish Tripathi has officially announced that filmmaker Karan Johar is no longer associated with the production of ‘The Immortals of Meluha‘ movie. Previously, Johar’s Dharma Productions had acquired the rights to adapt the book.
Amish Tripathi informed IndiaToday.in that the rights for ‘The Immortals of Meluha’ have reverted to him from Dharma Productions. Currently, negotiations are underway with another production company, although Tripathi didn’t disclose the name, stating that discussions are still in the early stages.

Dharma Productions had acquired the rights to the book, and there were reports suggesting that Karan Johar was considering actors like Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra for the film adaptation. However, the latest update from the author confirms to IndiaToday.in that the project with Dharma Productions is no longer in progress.

Tripathi gained recognition with the publication of ‘The Immortals of Meluha,’ the inaugural book in the Shiva Trilogy, which debuted in 2010. This novel presents a reimagined narrative of the Hindu deity Shiva, set within a fictionalized backdrop, enthralling readers with its unique amalgamation of myth, history, and fantasy.

Following ‘The Immortals of Meluha,’ Amish has authored numerous bestselling novels, including ‘The Secret of the Nagas’ and ‘The Oath of the Vayuputras,’ both sequels to the Shiva Trilogy. Additionally, he has penned the Ram Chandra Series, which comprises titles like ‘Scion of Ikshvaku’ and ‘Sita: Warrior of Mithila,’ further solidifying his position as a prolific and celebrated writer.
